Pelagios significa “mar abierto” en griego y Kakunja quiere decir “proteger” en la lengua guaycura. Es una organización sin fines de lucro, creada en 2010 por investigadores y científicos mexicanos. Se centra en la investigación de especies de tiburones y otros organismos de aguas abiertas, con la finalidad de generar información para el manejo regional y la implementación de estrategias de conservación.

Promote the protection and care of marine and coastal areas of Colombia, promoting sustainable use of natural resources. Supporting the Government’s institutional control and monitoring, legislation, scientific research, education and conservation is strengthened, within a framework of cooperation with multiple stakeholders in order to achieve a comprehensive and balanced conservation.

La misión de CREMA es proteger, conservar, y restaurar las poblaciones de tortugas marinas, tiburones y otras especies marinas amenazadas de extinción en el Pacífico Tropical Oriental, bajo una visión de prácticas pesqueras sostenibles con enfoque ecosistémico en asocio cercano con las comunidades costeras.

The Smithsonian Tropical Research Institution (STRI) in Panama, is a bureau of the Smithsonian Institution based outside of the United States, is dedicated to understanding biological diversity.

El Parque Nacional Galápagos es responsable de conservar la integridad ecológica y la biodiversidad de los ecosistemas terrestres y marinos de las áreas protegidas del Archipiélago, así como el uso racional de los bienes y servicios que estos generan para la comunidad.

The Galapagos Science Center (GSC) is a joint effort between the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill – UNC and Universidad San Francisco de Quito. We have come together to increase the scientific development of the Galapagos Islands.

Turtle Island Restoration Network mobilizes people to restore oceans, preserve rivers and streams, and protect the marine wildlife that call these blue-green waters home.

Mision Tiburon is composed by young professionals committed to marine life and shark conservation. The leaders of this organization, Ilena Zanella and Andres Lopez, are marine biologists who have worked for several years in educational projects and marine research, especially with sharks, rays and turtles.

Equilibrio Azul was created in light of the urgent need to obtain information to conserve Ecuador’s ecosystems and marine resources.  As well, we work with public, government, and business sectors with competing interests to produce functional and collaborative solutions that bear conservation strongly in mind.

La biotelemetría acuática es simplemente una serie de herramientas que nos permite rastrear o seguir a nuestros sujetos de estudio de manera remota.

The mission of Fins Attached is to conduct research, promote conservation and provide education for the protection of marine ecosystems.  The health of any ecosystem is controlled largely by its apex predators.  So, while our work aims to impact the marine ecosystem as a whole, much of our research is focused on the apex predators of the marine environment, which are sharks.

PRETOMA is a Costa Rican non-profit NGO founded in 1997. We are a marine conservation and research organization working to protect ocean resources and promote sustainable fisheries policies in Costa Rica and Central America.
