German Soler is a Colombian with a Masters in Marine Biology from the University of New South Wales, Australia. He has worked for the Malpelo Foundation since 2004 on different research and conservation projects.

He had worked previously in Brazil with pink river dolphins with acoustic telemetry in a project run by the British Antartic Survey and INPA (Insitituo de Pesquis da Amazonia).

It was then when he started his work with telemetry which has continue during his work with the Malpelo Foundation. Currently he has good knowledge of both satellite and acoustic telemetry techniques, both in the field and analysis of information.
